I Never
Liner notes
This was -- very tangentially -- related to the songwriting circle prompt about sweet shops, in the 'hand in the sweetie jar' sense. It was slightly inspired by certain politicians swearing blind that water isn't wet. I'm not really happy with the chorus; it feels sweary for the sake of it, and I'd much rather the protagonist get his comeuppance.I never bought the lies you saw me swallow
I never met the man you saw me meet
I never had faith in the frauds you saw me follow
I never spoke the words you saw me speak
I never made my bed where I was caught with trousers down
I never found out when I fucked around
I never took the bribes you saw me taking
I never shook the hands you saw me shake
I never broke the laws you caught me breaking
I never made the deals you saw me make
I never went the places my fingerprints were found
I never found out when I fucked around
I never fought the fight you saw me fighting
I never wore the boots you saw me wear
I never lit the fire you saw me lighting
I never swore the vows you saw me swear
I never spewed the poison you recorded me propound
I never found out when I fucked around
